The thing is Moore always moans. MOAN MOAN MOAN. He's had more
success
than most writers, is critically acclaimed, people love his stuff (I
have Watchmen in my collection) and he still moans. Great writer but
a
miserable git. I guess that's the trade-off. LOL I dunno, be
grateful,
Alan!

Most writers - be they comic book writers or traditional novelists -
would love to have their work adapted to film. I can understand him
not wanting his work ruined - I remember seeing the Dredd movie and
thinking what could have been - but just think how good Watchmen
could
be if Moore tried his hardest to write the screenplay or at least an
early draft. If he wants his books to work on screen he should try
his
best to help in the screenwriting process. I'm sure many producers
would consider an Alan Moore screenplay and/or use it as a good
starting point to further develop the story. Move making is all about
compromise and rewrites.

There is a distinct chance 'Watchmen the movie' will be better than
'Watchmen the comic book'. I say this because Watchmen the comic book
has little action and I think a 2000s Watchmen will have to look
spectacular, have some impressive action sequences - sequences where
we see the Watchmen fighting crime. People love Watchmen because it's
a cerebral comic book, you gotta think about its meaning, think about
what Moore is trying to convey, but that won't work as well with Joe
and Jane Shmoe movie goer. It's gotta have some good action in it. If
you combine Moore's comic book sensibility with modern movie
techniques
it could be a great movie. And that will keep Mr Moore happy.
