The text made it pretty clear that Dredd wasn't relying on them at
all; he was indulging them.
The crime is one which requires detection, rather than Dredd being on
the spot and able to batter the perp, so it relies, as in real life,
on gathering and *****sing information, lucky breaks, and so on. Did
he nail the Hunter's Club in their first story? No. Sometimes things
are beyond his control, just as it should be.
