Chris Ware
book signing for "The ACME Novelty Library"
Friday, October 21st at 7:00 pm
at The Booksmith (1644 Haight Street) in San Francisco
Utterly eschewing the general bonhomie surrounding the newly-minted
contem****ary regard for the comic strip medium as a language of
complicated personal expression and artistic sophistication,
professional colorist and award-winning letterer Chris Ware returns to
the book trade with "The ACME Novelty Library," a hardcover
distillation of material with which he tuckpointed the holes of his
regular comic book periodical over the past decade.
Chris Ware is the author of "Jimmy Corrigan - the Smartest Kid on
Earth," which received the Guardian First Book Award in 2001 and was
also included in the 2002 Whitney Biennial of American Art. He recently
edited the 13th issue of McSweeney's Quarterly Concern, and continues
work on two upcoming genuinely serious graphic novels.
Author events are free and located at our San Francisco store (1644
Haight Street in San Francisco, between Clayton & Cole). For further
information, call 415-863-8688 or visit www.booksmith.com If you
cannot attend an event and would like to order a signed book, please
email or telephone the store.
