We had a successful product, but it looked a bit out-dated, said
marketing.
"As long as we were going to have a new looking one, we may as well
make it operate better aand/or cost less to make." Management said.
All agreed.
Weeks later, working prototypes were presented to the company
officers. who looked, prodded, hummed, played with prototypes and
walked about with hands clasped behind their backs.
Suddenly someone said, "With the new look all our marketing / sales
material will need redoing!"
"'My goodness, Bob, you're right!"
"OK Guys, thanks anyhow."

Cost to Engineering - hundreds of manhours
