A couple of friends of mine recently returned from a trip to Japan and
brought back LO#5 for me (doh, i should have asked for #4 as well!)
The technical work is, as usual, top notch.
The book begins as Alita, Ping, Elf, Zwolf, Sechs and 100 return to
the ZOTT arena. Sechs has a new, more masculine body, though it seems
like she chose to keep her gun arm, as well as her blade. Elf and
Zwolf return with new and improved outfits (though... improved by how
much? I'm not sure I should comment just yet XD)
They begin by quickly defeating another team at the ZOTT tournament
and Mbad enters the arena floor to congratulate the team, offering a
hand in outward congratulations, but inwardly again trying to hack
Alita's body. His attempt fails, much to the enjoyment of Ping, and
he exits visibly shaken up.
We also meet a new female character who appears to be a pirate of some
sort, who seriously kicks ass as she uncovers stealth bodyguards
utilized by Ladder.
Meanwhile, Alita, Ping, Elf, Zwolf and Sechs go to a karaoke bar for
libations and serendipitously meet members of this pirate character's
crew. It looks like they rescued a cargo full of kids from the
Venusians and are trying to protect them.
As they return to the ZOTT Tournament field for another match,
however, they discover that Alita's group is to battle the pirate
group. The volume ends as Alita approaches one of these individuals
in the final ****tion of the match.
It never ceases to astound me just how well Mr. Ki****ro is able to get
battle sequences to work from panel to panel. He also has a great
sense of humour and really knows how to pack a punch. I really look
froward to seeing the translation soon so I can understand exactly
what is going on.
Anyone else had a chance to get this volume yet?
