Seraphim of the Scrapyard--Celebrating Eight Years in Cyberspace!

by xenacanthus@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Daniel Snyder) Apr 23, 2004 at 09:03 PM

An alien nation in therapy
Sliding ****d and new
Like a bad tempered child
On a rain slicked street

And I'm gone gone gone
Now I'm older than movies
Let me dance away
Now I'm wiser than dreams
--
David Bowie, "Dead Man Walking"

With Seraphim's eighth birthday upon us. I find myself
with little to re****t. There has been little renovation of the
main page. I hope to do that some time this weekend;
sadly, of late, this "Real Life" issue that we all spend so
much time, effort and money to avoid has been dealing
me harsh blows. On the other hand, as has been made
abundantly clear in Gunnm itself, one who does not rise
to one's own chosen battles is not truly living a free life.

The big news is that the Gunnm FAQ has been updated!
Yes, after three years it was starting to get a little dated...
still talking about Last Order in the future tense, and with
my University of Florida e-mail address as my contact e-
mail, and this and that and the other thing. Well, a new
draft has been sent off to Marco. Hopefully, he'll edit and
expand it himself and post it here in the near future.
Besides the Last Order-related updates, the biggest
change is in the section on Hito, Ki****ro's pre-Gunnm-
manga compendium. I've had a copy for some time but
never put any of it into the FAQ. Now that's solved...

It had been several years since the legendary
Convergence II, and visiting Marco this past summer has
made me kind of excited about meeting Gunnm fans in
RL. It looks like I may be doing a couple of cons this year:
Anime Iowa (if Mark E. can twist my arm!) and another one
in the Bay Area in September whose name escapes me
just at this moment. More and more, I meet Gunnm fans
at cons by coincidence: standing in line, swapping stories,
or at fanfic panels. I know you all are out there, I hope we'll
see each other in the near future.

Walk in faith...
