I'm currently reading a book called, "The Golden Ration: the story of Phi,
the extraordinary number of nature, art and beauty." by Mario Livio
And I came across this interesting piece of data, which I thought might be
of some interest to Gunnm fans.
....algebra itself became known as "l'arte della cos" ("The art of the
thing"). Occationally it was referred to as the "ars magna" ("the great
art"), to distinguish it from what was considered as the lesser art of
arithmetic.
