The Peanuts television specials have a new home for video releases -
Warner Home Video has taken over the Peanuts home video license,
previous held by Paramount Home Video.
The first titles Warner will release are "deluxe editions" of "Be My
Valentine, Charlie Brown" on Jan. 15, 2008 and "It's the Easter Beagle,
Charlie Brown" on Feb. 26, 2008. They will be remastered and will
feature "newly created bonus features." So far there are no details on
what those features might be.
Warner has a new multi-year license to distribute 50 of the Peanuts TV
specials on DVD. Paramount held the home video license from 1994
through early 2007, and while they managed to release nearly all the
Peanuts specials on VHS (now out of print), they neglected the shows
when it came to DVD releases. Hopefully Warner will do better!
I'll keep you updated with new information as I get it...
