Everything hits as a graphic novel these days.  Another idea
that's apparently done pretty well for Marvel is their current
trend of collecting many of their popular titles (or miniseries)
in graphic novel form every 6-8 issues (generally consecutive
issues that serve as story arcs, but sometimes there's a bit of
skipping around with "one-shot" sort of issues).   One can
read every issue of quite a few titles these days without ever
purchasing an actual comic book.  I have a couple of friends
who follow all of the Spider-man and X-Men titles exclusively
through the graphic novel collections - they enjoy the characters
and stories and are interested in the art but aren't "collectors"
or anything like that, and buying the collected issues in graphic
novel form is cheaper than buying each individual issue.  Even
more so if your local bookstore/comic shop offers discounts
on graphic novels, or maybe price-based discounts (10% off
any purchase over $20 or what have you), as a lot of them do.

So, yeah.
