Twisting time and space, let's say that the original "Superman The Movie"
stars were able to do "Superman Returns", same script, same director.
Personally, I have no doubt that both Chris Reeve and Gene Hackman
could've
handled the more intense characterizations... but, could Margot Kidder?
While she was never my favorite "Lois", she is a competant actress, but
still.....
