I am slowly but surely attempting to return to the wonderful world of
comics after a lengthy absence. I last regularly collected comics
around 2004/2005. I have picked up a few titles at my local bookstore
and skimmed them, and (for what it=92s worth) bought and read DCs
=93Infinite Crisis=94 trade paperback. These were the titles I was reading
before I went away (both DC and Marvel):
Amazing Spider-Man
Astoni****ng X-Men
Doom Patrol (relaunch)
Fantastic Four
Flash (s****adically)
JLA
Legion
New Avengers
Teen Titans
That=92s pretty much all I can recall at the moment, though it seems
there may have been a few other things. Obviously, I=92m heavily drawn
to team books. Individual writers that I=92ve followed in the past
include Grant Morrison (I have previewed one of his current Batman
comics) =96 I=92ve been following Morrison since DCs Vertigo=92s days, and
followed his respective runs on JLA and New X-Men; Mark Waid =96 I was a
fan of Waid=92s run on Flash and have also followed some of his work on
other titles, notably Legion of Super Heroes; Peter Milligan; Brian
Bendis =96 mostly just his work on New Avengers; Dan Abnett and Andy
Lanning =96 Legion; J. Michael Straczynski =96 Amazing Spider-Man.
Back in the 90s, I also followed a number of DCs Vertigo titles, to
include Sandman, Hellblazer, Shade, Doom Patrol and others.
Anyways, this should give a fair indication of my tastes =96 any
recommendations for mainstream comics? Any insight into the current
status of my old titles, re-launches/updates of said titles, and/or
the writers mentioned herein?
