DC/Vertigo.

by Duggy <Paul.Duggan@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 15, 2008 at 09:55 PM

OK, I was just reading Newsarama's JMS doing Brave & the Bold
interview and it mentioned appearance by Swamp Thing and Constantine.

And there was a strange reaction to this.

Firstly there was a note in the article that these may change due to
talks between DC and Vertigo...

And there were people who took this as a sign the series was out of
(DC) continuity now.

Some were celebrating Swamp Thing's "return" to DC, others worried
about Constantine's appearence in it.

It was my understanding that there was still a loose connection
between the DCU and the Vertigo DCU. That things that happen in one
sort of happened in the other.

Swamp Thing appeared in Batman and Starman, Sandman appeared in JLA.

DC Characters appear in Vertigo.

These characters are usually in the same "place" in their lives as
they are in the "other" universe, but we don't see the journey so who
knows if it's different or the same.

I don't really understand why they'd really need discussions, although
I accept that Vertigo might want to OK stuff a little first, or why
any crossovers are that upsetting (or why people think that Swamp
Thing is lost to the DCU.

Then again, I wanted the real Vertigo to be one of the 52 worlds...
just one that people never visited, so New Earth could have copies of
all these characters and Vertigo could completely ignore the DCU...
but Vertigo seemed to not like to idea at all.
