Regarding Copyright & Trademark

by GrandePatzer <grandepatzer@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 5, 2008 at 02:29 PM

Before I start submitting my material to syndicates, etc., I'd like to
know that the name I selected for my comic strip isn't "taken". I
searched the Trademark database (http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?
f=login&p_lang=english&p_d=trmk) and got no hits, but I'm not sure
that's enough because I fear that Copyright may get me first. For
instance, if I want to call my Strip, "Introvert Monkeys," and someone
has already named a completely different strip the same, do I have an
issue? I read through http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ44.html
and
couldn't find anything that relates to the Comic Strip title itself.

A related question, should I go ahead and register my strip (as
outlined in the 2nd link above) to secure Copyright? It sounds like a
good idea.

Any pointers and/or links to reference material would be great. Thanks.
